RIGHT-LEANING SENTIMENT
This is a Farce
- The committee makes valid points but will fail to deliver a major political blow to Trump.
- Democrats are hypocrites who want to prosecute violence from the right without blinking twice at violence from the left.
- Fox News is under no obligation (legal or journalistic) to broadcast these hearings, as thereâs no shortage of access to them.
âThese âJanuary 6â hearings are a farceâ Sean Collins, Spiked: âThe committee reminds us how the Democrats are incapable of convincingly prosecuting the case against Trump and winning people over to their side. ⊠But while this Democrat-led committee has further exposed Trumpâs irresponsible behaviour, it is unlikely to deal him a political knockout blow. ⊠But the Democratsâ inability to persuade the public of Trumpâs wrongdoing runs deeper than the obvious partisanship of the committee. As they did during the Trump years, when they routinely labelled Trump a âfascistâ, the Democrats continue to overstate their case. So, during the committee hearings, the Democrats have insisted on calling the Capitol riot an âinsurrectionâ. Thatâs a wild exaggeration: the 2,500-or-so people who entered the Capitol on 6 January were unarmed, and right-wing political groups, like the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers, were hardly about to overthrow the US government. The riot did disrupt and delay the certification of the election, but it didnât actually stop it from happening.â
âThe hypocrisy and disconnect of the partisan Jan. 6 probeâ Miranda Devine, New York Post Opinion: âDems are delusional if they think hysterically dramatizing the events of that sad day will help them in the midterms or move the dial one iota on public perception of the Biden administrationâs failures. Our memories donât lie. A two-tier system of justice that offers benign forbearance to violent Democratic allies who break the law and punitive zero tolerance toward nonviolent Trump supporters has destroyed any concept of accountability. We canât forget the far more lethal BLM/Antifa riots in the months leading up to the 2020 election, which have gone largely unpunished. Just as the J6 rioters were Trump allies, the Antifa rioters were Democratic allies. One group rots in jail; the other continues its reign of terror unmolested. We canât forget that the whole of Midtown was boarded up in anticipation of the violent riots everyone knew would greet a Trump win.â

LEFT-LEANING SENTIMENT
Our Democracy Was Threatened and Continues to Be Threatened
- January 6 was an attempt to undermine our democratic institutions and it continues to this day.
- Former President Donald Trump scammed America, and the committee is laying that out in painstaking detail.
- Itâs unclear if meaningful accountability will result from the hearing or if this threat to our Democracy could resurface.
âThe sedition didnât stop on Jan. 6. It must be stopped.â Karen Tumulty, Washington Post Opinion: âIt is easy to imagine the stunts that people ... will pull if they are in positions of power come 2024. That is why it is imperative for voters to defeat them all â resoundingly, and across the board. They should take their lead from Georgia Republican voters, who in their May 24 primary defied Trumpâs efforts to exact revenge on Gov. Brian Kemp and Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger ... Liz Cheney said at the hearing. âthere will come a day when Donald Trump is gone, but your dishonor will remain.â The same could be said for the American electorate. In primaries across the nation, and then again in November, they will have a choice. Will they stand for their nationâs democratic system, or will they cast their lot with those who wish to destroy it? The insurrectionists came perilously close to doing so on Jan. 6, 2021. The next time, they might succeed.â
âTrump scammed America. The January 6 panel is showing us howâ Frida Ghitis, CNN Opinion: â[Trump] showed no compunction about tricking his supporters. In one of the most shameless scams, the Trump campaign extracted tens of millions of dollars by setting up the donations page on the campaign website that by default turned every donation into a recurring payment, according to reporting last year by the New York Times. The scam snagged huge amounts of money. Among those who got caught up in it were Trump supporters â including a cancer patient â who saw their bank accounts drained. Complaints about the scheme overwhelmed fraud lines at credit card companies, according to the Times report. Despite issuing more than $122 million in refunds, campaign spokesman Jason Miller downplayed the controversy, arguing campaign records showed only a small percentage of complaints. Not content with that shakedown, the campaign added another default setting, a so-called 'money bomb' that doubled the donation of Trump supporters they took for suckers.â

FLAG THIS
Trump Bears Responsibility, Support for Panel Growing, Viewership Down
Following the first public hearing, a POLITICO/Morning Consult poll showed a majority of Americans hold President Trump accountable for January 6. Specifically, 57% of Americans believe Trump is either âvery responsibleâ or âsomewhat responsible.â
It also seems votersâ approval of the January 6 panel has ticked up during the televised hearings. Last December, Morning Consult found approval was at 46%, but the most recent polling from last week has approval at 51%.
That said, viewership of the hearings is on the decline. Preliminary numbers from Nielsen Media Research show that 20 million people watched the first public hearing, while just half as many tuned in for the second.

I am a verified 10th generation American and in each conflict I had a direct ancestor fighting to preserve our America. The Founding Fathers set up our government in a time that was NOT instant communication . Therefore with technology and the fact that we now have 50 states instead of 13 some of the government departments need to be adjusted or closed. OUR INDIVIDUAL VOTES NO LONGER COUNT. IF THEY DID A LOT OF THIS JANUARY 6th nonsense would not have happen.
So come on AMERICANSâŠLETS DO AWAY WITH GERRYMANDERING AND USE THE TECHNOLOGY WE HAVE TO REALLY MAKE EACH OF OUR VITES COUNT.
I AM NOT A REPUBLICAN OR DEMOCRAT BUT AN AMERICAN AND VOTE FOR WHOEVER I THINK WILL DO THE BEST FOR OUR AMERICA
.
No, not until the Justice Department goes after antifa and BLM for all their destruction that included federal buildings. Now, in recent news, we have the so-called white supremacist who have been arrested out in Idaho that includes veterans (apparently there no veterans within antics, BLM, and the abortionist group) and yet we have a huge group of people demonstrating and and destroying property at pro-life institutions. When is the justice department going to start going after these abortionist who actually are destroying property. Liberals and Democrats are so fanatically discombobulated people.
I have religated these hearings to âthe circusâ category. They are not bi-partisan. They arenât looking for truth, just to place blame. We are not evenly applying the same rules to all similar events. The truth wonât come out of this sensationalized hearing. Itâs a waste of time and money. Did anyone watch Olympus Has Fallen? If it takes a well trained group of terrorists to take down the White House how in the world could a group of motley, unorganized civilians do it?
No. I refuse to watch them because the âpanelâ is not impartial nor do I believe what they are doing is legal and just a show. Re FoxNews, well⊠I remember the other media refusing to show Trump many times, especially during the COVID outbreak so that many had no idea what he actually did or said. During Jan 6 they also picked and chose what to publicize. They also are not showing the results of the investigations into the Clinton-instigated Russian accusations against the Trump people â not sure why thatâs not included in the Jan 6 âinvestigations.â. Nor are they publicizing the infamous laptop and our President-and-son-on-the-take business. I donât agree with Jan6 but I donât believe Trump instigated it, although I believe he was foolish in sitting on it too long and, like Hillary Clinton, probably did discuss ways to retain his position â as she did with Russia gate and is still not being prosecuted⊠and that is concerning to voters on the fence and good reason not to carry support into the next election. But unless Congress does something practical to help the American people and drops this show, they will appear to be once again wasting our time and money. Nothing this administration or Congress has done so far makes any of their salaries worth it. The US is failing miserably, the economy is tanking and our leaders are clowns.
A partisan witch hunt all the way. One of the main culprits, if not the main culprit, is sitting on the sidelines with self-granted immunity while a less than stellar group of partisan hacks conducts historyâs largest fishing expedition. The already untrustworthy media continues to redefine insurrection, sedition, democracy and anything else convenient to their leftist agenda. If anyone believes these polls, I have a bridge for saleâŠ.
January 6, 2021, was indeed a sad day in American history, when rioters took to storming the U.S. Capitol, but the damage done by country-wide riots instigated by the BLM/Antifa groups have done far more damage to our cities and businesses, our economy and our general public safety than this immature and irresponsible breach of Capitol security did.
