It turns out, the key to losing weight — and keeping it off — is not in carbs, fat, or even in probiotic-rich foods.
No, the endgame of having a healthy weight — as well as more energy, and a long, healthy life — comes down to a specific “switch” you can flip in your body to “flush out” unnecessary calories.
Dr. Steven Gundry is calling this a “Caloric Bypass” And by activating this specific process in your body, he has seen thousands — yes thousands — of people dramatically improve their health, even at age 50 and beyond.
This includes losing weight, getting tons more energy, and returning to the good health they had in their youth once they simply addressed this one key to better health.

Walz for Veep
Today’s Top Story in One Sentence: On Tuesday, Democratic presidential nominee and sitting Vice President Kamala Harris chose Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota as her running mate.

RIGHT-LEANING SENTIMENT
A Weak and Radical Choice
The Top Argument From The Right: Harris’s Tim Walz selection is a gift for Republicans, Ian Haworth, Washington Examiner: “Make no mistake: This is a gift to former President Donald Trump and the Republican Party that they must seize with all their strength. … [Pennsylvania Governor Josh] Shapiro was the obvious pick in a world that isn’t hijacked by radical Islamists and purple-haired lunatics. As a reasonably popular governor of the swing state with 19 highly contested electoral votes up for grabs, he would have delivered Pennsylvania for free, thereby putting the Trump campaign on the ropes. Even [Senator Mark] Kelly would have almost certainly delivered Arizona for Harris, handing her campaign the state’s 11 electoral votes, again, for free. But Harris looked at the astronaut and said ‘nah,’ and looked at Shapiro and said ‘too Jewish,’ and instead of attempting to moderate her campaign and pick up a swing state, she chose a man who makes Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) look like former Libertarian Texas Rep. Ron Paul: Walz. … But while Walz’s radicalism certainly raises the stakes, it doesn’t change the fact that his bizarre selection is a golden opportunity for Trump and his campaign. For the next few months, the sole focus must be painting a picture of what America would become under these two unbridled and unapologetic far-left Democrats.”

LEFT-LEANING SENTIMENT
This Could be the Ticket to Win It
The Top Argument From The Left: Tim Walz Could Take It to the House, Howard Wolfson, The New York Times: “There is no substitute for an energized base. But while that is a prerequisite to success, it is not sufficient for victory. For that Ms. Harris will almost certainly have to improve her numbers with a group of male voters whose drift away from Democrats predates her entry in this campaign. As a former adviser to Hillary Clinton, I know all too well that there are some men who are reluctant to vote for a woman, and polling has made clear that young men in particular are increasingly backing Mr. Trump and the G.O.P. Ms. Harris can afford to lose this cohort. But she must cut into Mr. Trump’s margin. It is clear that Ms. Harris understands this challenge — a key reason all of the top contenders for vice president were white and male, and why she was right to choose Mr. Walz. All of the runners-up were impressive… But only one is a former high school football coach: Mr. Walz. It’s an identity that has stuck over the years. Why does that matter? Because football may be the last remaining unifying force in a deeply divided America. … For us, football is a common language… This background — as a coach, and as a member of the armed services — helped him represent a blue-collar swing congressional district in Congress. … Put simply, Mr. Walz has a record of earning support from precisely the kinds of voters Democrats need to retain the White House.”

Walz Who?
A vast majority of Americans are unfamiliar with Walz, according to a survey released Tuesday before Harris’s announcement. The NPR/PBS News/Marist National poll revealed that 71% of respondents don’t know enough about Walz to form an opinion, while 17% view him favorably and 12% unfavorably (The Hill).
While Walz is relatively unknown on the national stage, his track record in Minnesota provides insight into his potential influence on the Democratic ticket. In 2022, Walz garnered strong support from young voters and union households, with nearly 6 in 10 union voters supporting him. About half of Minnesota voters viewed him favorably, and he performed better among white voters without a college degree than Democrats nationally, securing 44% of their vote compared to the national average of 32% (AP News).

Desert Shield, Olympic Meal, Trees vs. Stars
On this day in 1990, President George Herbert Walker Bush ordered the organization of Operation Desert Shield in response to Iraq’s invasion of Kuwait on August 2. The order prepared American troops to become part of an international coalition in the war against Iraq that would be launched as Operation Desert Storm in January 1991. To support Operation Desert Shield, Bush authorized a dramatic increase in U.S. troops and resources in the Persian Gulf.
