According to a YouGov survey conducted in mid-May, 47% of respondents were unsure as to the fairness of Griner’s detainment in Russia. with 36% saying she is being unfairly detained, and 17% arguing the situation is fair.

Concerning the American government’s involvement, 27% feel not enough is being done to secure Griner’s release, while 24% believe the government is doing enough, and 9% think less should be done. Meanwhile, a plurality of 39% of respondents were unsure.
